"New Hair!" Say the rejoycing peasants.

That's right. I have new hair. And y'all are peasants. I mean that in the best way possibly, really I do.

Photo numero uno!

Photo numero does!

I know, I know. I'm gorgeous. Like, crazily so. And my hair is epic, I know. :)

Ta da!

I know what you're thinking. "Holy crap, it's Maggie!"

And, yes, thank you for the acknowledgement. It is I, Maggie, you're heroine extraordinare.

(I forgot my username again.)

What to say, what to say. Well, I finished my first week of college with flying colours. I even made an aquaitance or two. Very good, if I do say so myself, for an anti-social girl. Classes are interesting, campus is lively, it's very good. And, there's a Tim Horton's right there in the lobby, so there's a never ending stream of flavoured caffine when I need it. Yay.

I drove for the first time today. Like, an hour ago. Very exciting stuff. My instructor's an old British man, and he's lovely. He's all like 'Stay on your side of the road, please." and "brake gently, please." Very nice stuff. And I only brushed the car against an overgrown bush. No one died. No one maimed. I'm very pleased with myself.

Uhm... What else... I'm totally screwed for November. I'll probably lose. Like, most definetly lose. It's rather sad-making to think about, so I just won't. I'll live in happy denial for all of eternity.

Or until November hits and I'm left at the scene of a terrible wreck between creativity and school obligations. It'll be a spectacular explosion.

Nothing else? Fabulous.

Ta ta for now, mon amies.

Who You Gonna Call?

That's right. I'm pathetic.

I might have forgotten about all blogs for a month or so, but that's not why I'm pathetic.

Oh, thank you, Kate! I owe you for life for signing the petition! (Good news, but I'll talk about it when I get everyone else caught up)

So, we're all 90's children, right? I mean, we're all in the same boat.

Anyone remember those old saturday morning cartoons? Beetle Borgs, Power Rangers (the good one), Pepper Ann, etc etc? Well, most specifically, I remember Extreme Ghostbusters, which, as far as I'm concerned, the best cartoon ever made, possibly excluding the Real Ghostbusters, but
I would be hard pressed to actually say that.

Well anyways, in my travels to become the biggest geek on the lovely planet earth, I started to youtube old episodes, and I must say, they are wonderful. I mean, look at this new Ghostbusting cast! Tell me they aren't fabulous! (but please don't)

My favorite's Eduardo. He's the brunet in the front -drools-

Anyways. I was in EGB bliss until every user on youtube deleted their egb episodes off the internet. Gone, dissapeared forever! I was crushed. I might have almost cried.

This is where Kate Lewis comes in! She signed a petition I found to have Extreme Ghostbusters released on DVD (76 signatures) and she drooled over the amazing cast with me as she put up with me ranting about how wonderful they were.

Kate! It's times like this that I wish you really were Australian. Because, as you heard, they're releasing the first 13 episodes onto DVD in Australia and France. Weird, right? But people guess it'll be here soon.

Now, the next logical thought would be, buy it anyway and pay extra money to have the set shipped here from Australia. Well, I'm with you on that, but there are two problems.

One: The DVD's are set so they only play on Australian Standard players

and Two: They're sold out. All of the pre-orders are gone.

I take that as a good omen, but I'm severly bummed.

To pass the time, take a gander at this episode. One of the surviving five on youtube.

Love!~

-Poof of Smoke-

Guess whose back! I know, y'all are super excited I've made a come back. Actually, I had forgotten my email-thing to log in, and I was like, damn this all to hell. Turns out, it's not google.ca, it's GMAIL.ca. Fail on my part. I'll admit it. -coughs- I might of had to google that to find out...

I'm none to impressed with this summer vacation so far. And believe me, you shall know why in mere seconds if you continue to read.

Did anyone else go 'Summer, thank god, a rest!'? I did. Oops, I lied to myself.

This has been the most hetic two weeks of my life.

I have a million projects I need to work on. Five stories that need updating and tending, plans for November to create and tend to, work (well, not yet, but I've had to train...), and family matters. It's rediclous! I miss school. But not high school. I'm suprised, but I don't feel sad that I won't be back.

Watch me be a balling mess at mystery box, though.

Nothing's really happened, so I don't know what to say...

I added Selkies to the Mythical Creature Catelogue, Nicole! It was epic.

Sooo... Yeah. -shuffles awkwardly- I think I'm gonna go for now... Also, I've decided to make this place less about my novel-writing endeavors and just leave it so I can keep in touch with y'all throughout the years to come, because we might not be seeing each other for long periods of time!

Except for Nicole and Jakalee in November. I'll tie you two to a post in my basement until November is over. We shall all be winners!

Oh! I'm re-doing my room. Complete fixer-upper. I need paint. Lots and lots of paint. And therefore, paint colours. Jacquie told me Maggie seems like a girl who would have a green room, and I didn't really know how to respond to that, so what colour should I do my room? And when I say colours, I'm talking really bright, bold colours. BRIGHT!

Toodles for now, darlings.

OH, Natalie. I can't make the beach Thursday. I finally remembered what's happening. I have to go with my mom into West Van, and then.. WE SHOP! Looking forward to it.

Ta Ta for now!

WIN!

-hysterical cheering-

I'm sorry, but I'm physched right now. I just found out the results of the Twilighter's Choice Awards, which I previously mentioned that Zeh Redheaded Wondah, Jakalee and I were all nominated for, and we're all winners!

Well, kind of. In my mind, we're all winners :)

Let's start with -drum roll- Zeh Redheaded Wondah!

This darling Twilight-hater won second place in Best Use of an Overly Used Plotline! Yay for her!

Jakalee, my darling, she won second place as well for her School Projects in the Best All Human caregory! Congrats, darling!

Thirdly, myself. I came in third place for Best All Human with In the Dark - Jakalee beat me - and FIRST PLACE for Best Romantic One-Shot with Broken. -big grin-

Also, Jakalee, Saturday School came in second for Best Collaboration. Epic fail on the voters part. Nobody should bear Saturday School, me thinks. -sighs-

Now, lovely people, if you want to show me you love me, you could vote for me for a Bellie Award here: http://www.thecatt.net/tw/Default.aspx

Vote for Jakalee, Z.R.H.W and I so we don't have to vote for ourselves and eachother. Please!?

Live long a prosper!

Beam Me Up, Scotty.

That's right, I saw Star Trek. It taught me many things, of which I shall pass down to you, lovely people, because it's been far too long since I've posted anything. Blame life.

Star Trek taught me that no matter how geeky the subject is, and how looked down upon it has been since the '60's, as long as you pump it full of action and hot men, it's all good. Yes, your movie can completly sell out the theatre and captivate audiences that are not filled with Trekkies.

It was epic. Although not once that I can tell, did Kirk ever say 'Beam me up, Scotty', which was such a shame, because I thought that line was supposed to be iconic. They did say, however, 'Live long and prosper' with the little hand motion. -big grin-

Goodness, this post is rather...lame.

Maybe tonight I'll do more late History homework while watching Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. That's right, Jakalee, I might watch it without you. Although, to be fair, you did see the end of Underworld 2 without me, albeit that wasn't your fault... But the movie is just sitting there, waiting to be watched before it has to be returned. and my mom did get it for me to see...

My mom also lent me her old book on fairies (except I just spelt it wrong) faeries. Yes, faeries. That's how you spell it. It's rather amazing, and I love it, and I'm kind of happy that I'm kind of following in her footsteps a little bit. She used to read fokelore and do tarot cards. Now she's kind of a neat-freak and doesn't read at all.

Yeah, that won't be me hopefully.

I'm kind of out of things to say, and I don't really have anything to post for me novel because I haven't written anything new because I've been so swamped with other things.

But I shall post a rather tricky question for you. One that if you answer correctly, I will thank you in my published acknowledgements when my book is printed, and I might just dedicate the whole thing to you.

I need names, and that's all.

The first name is for a restaurant. It's this world's equivalant to our Earl's, where servers and employees are selected by facial symmetry and their outward beauty. Their unofficial motto? 'Skills can be taught, beauty can't be.' I need the name for the restaurant. Something that fits without being obvious.

The second is the name for the actual place. It'll be in an unspecified part of North America, but I need the name for the town. It's split into two sections, one it the subburb, the other the downtown area. Think Port Coquitlam & downtown Vancouver. Or even better, just Vancouver. But I need an original name. Feel free to steal it from another continent, it'll make it trippier.

Please, please, please help me!

It seems my usual phrase is rather self-sufficent, so I will simply say, good luck.

-giggles at self- You won't understand until you watch Star Trek.

Anddd, this post has come full circle.

Golly Gee.

Look at it rain! Score! There's no way the softball game can go on with the monsoon outside.

Guitar Hero: World Tour had Monsoon by Tokio Hotel. Suprised? Me too.

I'm also madly in love with Kid Cudi's music. Except so far, only two songs. Day and Night, and Dat New New (Viking Remix). Loveee.

No rain, don't peter out! Epic failure.

Jakalee, Zeh Redheaded Wondah and I were nominated for the Twilighters Choice Awards. Broken was nominated for Best Romance One-shot or something, and In the Dark got a nom. for best all human. Jakalee's School Project's is my competition for best all human, and ZeReHeaWo had Hidden Beneath nominated for Best use of a Over-Used Plotline.

Noo! The rain is stopping -headdesk-

Got kicked out of History 12 for being one minute late...Check out my History buddy's space - bronze lace.

And the rain stopped. Goddammit.

And because I need something that revolves around my new project...
(Jakalee, note the new at the end)

V a m p y r e

A type of rabies, vampyrism is passed by blood from infected to victim, and involves the trading of blood. The vampire first drinks from the victim, and then vice versa. The newly infected vampire then has all of their tendons cut and is buried in a traditional six feet grave, left to heal and fight their way to the surface, ensuring that the vampyres that are created will be strong enough.

Vampyres have their mortality taken from them as they change. Their skin is unable to protect itself from UV radiation, and therefore burns in the sun. Their looks are enhanced to lure their pray, and religious objects become lethal, since vampyres are damned. Running water also poses difficulties for them.

If a member of another group come upon a vampyre burial, they try to uncover the body before it rises and decapitate it, or stake it through the heart to prevent it from transforming. If the head is removed and kept away from the re-buried body, the vampyre cannot rise and will not pose a problem in the future.

Vampyres need to ask permission to cross the threshold of any living space before entering, but once granted permission, they need not ask again. They often use their looks to get humans to let them in. Vampyres usually haunt the neighbourhood they once lived in, and tend to feed on those who they used to know in their past life.

They are dead, and cannot reproduce.

When someone is bitten, a bond is created throughout the coven, connecting the newly bitten to the group. New vampyres are not created until the coven has voted on it.

Vampyres are created when a vampyre and a human trades blood, and then is buried. Vampyres do not drink from those they plan to change. Those they drink from will not be changed. They either drink from a human and then kill them, or trade blood without feeding from them. There is no both.

Vampyres tend to prefer being buried in the earth as the sun stays up, but they do not sleep and have taken to living in empty buildings they have converted to keep it dark and safe inside, yet there have been incidents...

How Amusing.

I find this whole blog thing rather funny. Mostly because there are five of us - tallie, ashleyy, zeh readheaded wonder, jakalee and myself - and we don't really pay much attention to each other’s stuff. Can't you just picture it? I can. I see the five of us - arms linked - surrounded by the darkness of obscurity. We're shouting out to the darkness, trying to call the attention of the shining, fabulous people that can join our ranks.

Or, this whole blog thing could be another school-type thing, where we all strive to make each other jealous. I can see it going that way too, since none of us talk of anything really important besides what we've done with certain people. But alas, I'm not thinking before I write, and therefore, could dig myself in a pretty big hole...

I got shoes for prom. Exciting, oui? Pretty, gold, gladiator sandals from Aldo. Love.

I also posted a one-shot (if it does the 403 Forbidden thing, just refresh the page twice). It's my baby. It is my pride and joy. I want to be the Mufasa to its Simba and hold it atop a cliff, proclaiming its majesty to the animal kingdom we call life. But again, I don't know enough people to be able to do that.

I'm also very sick. If I die, remember that I've infected you all with H1N1 Swine Flu 2009, which is what they're calling it now. It's catchy, no? Rolls right off the tongue, it does.

I've also decided that the world is the Kayla to my Alison. Don't know what I mean? That's okay; it might be better that way.

The world lost a fantastic author yesterday. Stephanie Bell aka Daddy's Little Cannibal on fanfiction, died in a drunk driver accident. She died before her high school graduation. She was the same age as us.

May your next life not end so violently, Stephanie.

I've also decided that I must chose my words more carefully when I write. Words cannot be wasted in my epic, mythical baby.

And since I need to have one little inkling on the direction of my novel, I will tell you that my first chapter has now been scrapped, and will be replaced with a first chapter that takes place a week before, and then what I wrote in chapter one will be re-worded and re-named 'chapter two'.

And since I love my imaginary readers...
(Steal it and risk my gouging your eyes out with a plastic spork)

G L A M O U R B O Y – T H A N E

Once a rather usual boy, his eyes were opened to the cruelty warlocks unleashed onto other creatures when his mother was bitten by a vampire and buried six feet under. When she arose to her second life with her son watching fearfully to the side, warlocks came in and destroyed her.

Since then, he has protested for the rights of magical creatures everywhere, from lycanthropes to harpies. Unfortunately, that cast the handsome and kind-hearted teenage boy into ill favour throughout the warlock community.

One day, when the boy walked up the front steps of the warlock’s town center to petition for harpie rights, a lycanthrope – something never heard of entering the square before – attacked him. Apparently a high-up warlock hired a lycanthrope to remove of his problem. But against the agreement, the lycanthrope didn’t dispose of the young warlock. Instead, the lycanthrope brought the promising warlock back to his den and preformed the ritual on him, making the warlock boy into a part werewolf, part warlock creation.

Upon waking, the boy turned out to be a furious disappointment to the lycanthrope, since the lycan-mage was weaker physically than a werewolf and magically than a warlock. Instead of getting best of both, the lycan-mage got worst of best. Such a pity.

He was then rejected from the lycanthrope society as an experiment failure, and from the warlocks since his blood was no longer pure.

The boy wandered the forest fringing on the Hidden City when he was taken into the lure of a Ghost Light. He was eventually saved from a rock face by Priscilla, the pixie, who eventually became his sister-figure.

The warlock boy now finds it hard to trust. He’s grown rather bitter and still fights as hard as he can for creature rights, yet he can only go from the sidelines – which he learned the hard way. One day he tried to intervene when the warlocks prepared to ambush a new fledgling vampire as she dug herself up. Unfortunately, with his weakened magic, he was unable to save the young vampyre girl, and he was hit by a particularly nasty glamour by a boy who we later find out if -sexybadboy-. The glamour the boy wears is ugly, and since the boy is half-wolf, he isn’t strong enough to break the spell.

Names!

Heck yes, skipping school today totally paid off. I know, skipping school is bad, etc, etc, but when you have parental consent, it makes it all better. See, we have some sort of emergency evacuation drill today, and my parents would have been unable to pick me up, and there was no way I would have sat out in the rain until three o'clock. And, my throat hurts.

But anyways, by sitting on the computer all day, I have named my two male leads! Fantastic - I think so. I probably should have been doing all of my history homework, or my photography assignment, or reading Othello for english, but no! I surfed zoope.com (best site ever) and found my names.

The first name went to sexybadboy. And as much as I'll miss his nickname, I'm thinking the name might just fit him. Actually, I have my doubts, but I'm hoping it will be like shoes. You know, how they don't fit right away but then you break them in and they're perfect?

Sexybadboy's name is Yale.

Like the university? Yes, that is the exact response I want from that name. Plus, it sounds refined and fancy for someone as pampered as my Yale. And, Alison's name starts with a vowel, and when I was trying to name glamourboy, his name started with a consonant, so I decided the third guy should be named with the letter that can be either a consonant or a vowel.

The second name went to glamourboy, and this name I'm not as fond of, but I'm thinking I'll grow into it, as he will. It started with Kyler, but it was too normal since it sounds like Kyle and Tyler mixed. Then it was Rhys, but then I remembered the book The Two Princesses of Bamarre, which has a sorcerer named Rhys in it. Then it went to something that rhymed with Yale, which wouldn't fly. Then Gaylen, but I didn't want all three names to have L's in them. And then I found the one.

Thane.

Cute, right? Well, I think it's nice...

So there you have it. All three main characters named. How spiffy. Also, a secondary character - Priscilla. So, four names so far. And, yesterday, I worked on Thane and Yale's back stories. Yale's all pro with his good upbringing, and Thane is all tragic, with his mother being bitten by a vampyre and him watching as warlocks kill her just as she rises from her grave, and then he's bitten by a lycanthrope hired by a leading warlock, and then he's glamoured by another warlock so he's hideous. Poor, poor Thane.

Anyways, I'm thinking about watching Pan's Labyrinth for more inspiration. I'm hoping it won't scare my socks off with its 14A rating for violence and gory scenes. I mean, if I could handle Quarantine, I can handle this...right?

Live long and prosper!

(Is it just me, or does anyone else think the new Star Trek movie looks kick-ass cool?)

My Quote.

Fire and Ice, Robert Frost:

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
Awe, love that poem.

So, pretty much the origin of my quote was sparked from a walk with my dog during torrential rainfall, with but a single black umbrella separating me from being drenched.

My puppy - a three month old goldendoodle named Bear - trotted alongside me as I ranted to him of the impossibility of naming my main male characters. I also brought up the scene I wrote randomly last night which would probably happen at the climax of the novel which featured Alison and who I have lovingly dubbed "glamourboy" until I come up with a real name for him. Right now, it's Kyler, but who knows.

Anyways, it involved Alison becoming...magical. What type of magical, I'll leave it up to you to ponder. But I was thinking about how it would happen. Last night I wrote it as agonizingly painful, the magic searing through her veins and scorching her skin - literally making her flesh bubble from the heat. And then, it would cool and hit lower temperatures, making her freezing.

And as Bear and I walked down the street, the first two lines from Fire and Ice popped into my head, and as soon as I got home, I googled it for the rest of the poem. It's pretty, and I've always liked it, and who knows, I might be using it out of the context it's supposed to be in, but to me, it fits. It's about the end of the world, and Alison's human world is collapsing in on her in a fiery hell. It's about destruction with fire and ice; Alison will experience both.

-sighs- Maybe I'm way off, but right now, I don't care. I just need names. I have Kayla (the stereotypical human best friend), Alison (the boring, human heroine) and her shortened name Alise, and Priscilla (the pixie surrogate sister of "glamourboy"). Stupid girls, so easy to name. And Priscilla is a steam punk name. Very nice :)

I still need a snazzy exit line. Maybe I'll steal it from the kid’s books series Madison Finn.

Yours till the butter flies.

...no, maybe not.

May the force be with you.

Quick Summary and An Epic Thanks

Why do I have this blog? I have this blog because...well, I don't know why, really. I already have a livejournal, a twitter, a fanfiction and a fictionpress. Maybe this blog shall be different from the rest because it will be following my individual stories; something my livejournal has failed to do. Also, I really like the formatting abilities on this site, something which I can't get from my livejournal, yet I love the communities and such you can join on livejournal. -sighs- Quite a conundrum.

Today, in the introductory post of this lovely journal, I will be introducing the first of many projects swirling around my head. This one is a story existing in a world which is co-created by...someone. She has avoided mentioning me in her blog, thus, I shall do the same. Unless I forget to, then she'll be mentioned.

So, yes. The project is an urban fantasy novel, set in an imaginary city that's been divided in two. On one side, there's the human population, with their downtown and suburb sections. It's all rather boring on that side.

On the other side, however, is all the magical creature’s people grow up learning to fear: vampyres, lycanthropes (werewolves), pixies, harpies, will o' the wisps, just to name a few. But the most dreaded of these creatures are the warlocks.

The warlocks are the ones that divided the city - and the whole world - between them and the humans. They claim it's to protect the purest race from the dirty ones. They've put bans on hunting humans - something vampyres and lycanthropes need to do, yet warlocks continue to whisk away humans to try and re-create the ritual used to create the first warlock. Yes, those warlocks are mighty hypocritical.

The story revolves around our heroine - Alison - and her rather rude appearance in the Hidden world, having been saved by a young warlock from a Ghost Light (or Will O' the Wisp).

Yes, it surely shall be epic. That's the quick summary, and epic thanks to the co-creator who shall remain nameless for the time being.

Until next time, which will probably be soon since I need to explain my quote under my blog's name...

I need a snazzy exit line. Lemme think about it...
